The CEDAC
The CEDAC (Centre d’études en droit administratif et constitutionnel), a centre for studies in administrative and constitutional law, is an initiative of the public law professors at Université Laval’s Faculty of Law. Its purpose is to unite those working in and on administrative and constitutional law, and to develop research and training in that area.
Inspired by the observatory approach and looking to the future without losing sight of the past, the CEDAC has three core purposes: to monitor how public law is evolving, to advance knowledge and research in this field and to train the next generation. It focusses mainly on Québec and Canadian public law.
Through a range of activities, some unique and others recurring, the CEDAC fosters exchanges and bridge-building between partners from all different backgrounds around fundamental issues that are anchored in the following fields:
- The State and public administration;
- Democracy;
- Federalism;
- Rights and freedoms;
- Indigenous peoples’ rights.
Objectives
The CEDAC’s objectives are the following:
- To establish a centre of expertise on fundamental public law at Université Laval’s Faculty of Law.
- To build bridges between researchers and public law practitioners.
- To contribute to civic education and public debate through popular outreach.
