The GEDEL

In Canada, the  Université Laval’s Faculty of Law is one of the faculties with the greatest number of professors and researchers teaching and working on international, transnational, national and regional protection of basic rights and freedoms and the effects such protection has on society.

To take advantage of this unrivaled expertise, 15 Faculty members came together to form a group – the first of its kind in Québec – designed to foster their fellowship and collaboration in scientific research on basic rights and freedoms. This led to the establishment of the Groupe d'étude en droits et libertés de la Faculté de droit de l'Université Laval (GEDEL).

Mission

The GEDEL has the following goals:

  • To create synergy among professors, students and researchers in Université Laval’s Faculty of Law who are directly or indirectly interested in basic human rights and freedoms.
  • To be a catalyst for significant scientific collaboration and give rise to major research projects on such matters at Université Laval’s Faculty of Law.
